Thumbs down to… the newest Federal Reserve pick from President Trump, Stephen Moore, who recently said overall male pay was a greater issue than the gender pay gap. Moore, along with previous nominees, show serious misjudgement on Trump’s part, especially with the role the Fed plays in our economic direction. We need better people.

Thumbs down to… JPMorgan Chase for its tone deaf attitude towards employees and customers. Chase’s past as one of the major bank’s that was bailed out by the US government during the 2008 financial crisis combined with the multi-million dollar salaries of its executives leaves little room for Chase to mistreat the working class through condescending tweets and its lack of compensation for its own workers.

Thumbs down to… a California judge who recently ruled for a Jewish woman’s descendants that Nazi-looted art stolen from them rightfully belonged to a Madrid art museum. Even now, we have to be mindful of injustices committed a long time ago.

Thumbs up to… Instagram testing out a feature in Canada where users will not be able to see the like count on others’ posts. The move will likely lead to a better social media experience that takes away the mechanism that has been studied for leading to mental health issues.

Thumbs up to… President Trump’s recent admittance that vaccines are, in fact, necessary. Common sense is better late than never. Especially with measles making a frightening comeback, vaccinate, vaccinate, vaccinate!

Thumbs up to… Toronto’s Farmhouse Tavern, which is tackling food waste by cutting prices from its menu to entice customers to come in on Mondays, traditionally a day off for small restaurants. This gets rid of the restaurant excess that accounts for thirteen percent of food waste in Canada and eighteen percent in the United States. Hopefully, others follow suit.
